GestIC® Technology - Can I place some components on the Rx layer?

In general, components can be placed on the top layer. However, it depends on what signals and ground (GND) areas are added. Digital signals introduce noise into the Rx electrodes. Larger GND or VDD areas limit the E-field distribution.

Another limitation is that components on the top reduce the detection range by their height. We recommend having LEDs and/or buttons in the center and not other components.
