Opening Multiple Projects Simultaneously

MPLAB® X IDE allows users to open multiple projects simultaneously within the IDE. All one needs to do is open a project while one or more projects are already loaded in the IDE.

In this situation, you must be careful to ensure that you have selected the project you wish to operate on with the various tools and commands in the IDE. There are a few methods available to do this.

1. With no Main Project selected, you simply need to left-click on the top node of the project you wish to select. The selected project's name will be in bold font.
2. If you select one project as the Main Project, all tools and commands will operate on that project regardless of which project is selected in the project tree. The main project's name will be in bold font.
3. In either case, right-clicking on a project's top node will bring up a list of commands that may be used on that specific project - even if a Main Project is set to a different project.

Set Main Project

There are two methods that can be used to set the Main Project:

1. Right-click on a project's top node and select Set as Main Project from the popup menu.

2. Right-click in a blank area of the project tree and select Set Main Project > Your Project Name.
