Fonts & Colors Options

You can access the Fonts & Colors tab under Tools > Options in MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The Fonts & Colors category contains font and color settings for many different areas of the IDE.

Syntax Tab

The Syntax tab controls the font color and formatting rules for all supported programming languages.

The language box can be set to a specific language which allows you to set the font, foreground and background color, text effect and effect color.

A partial list of languages supported by the editor includes:

  • Assembler
  • C
  • C++
  • C/C++ Headers
  • Make Files
  • Diff Files
  • JavaScript
  • HTML
  • XML
  • CSS
  • Batch Files

Highlighting Tab

The Highligthing tab contains a wide variety of programming language features that can be set to appear in different colors. This is one of the areas of personal taste and convenience the Editor allows you control.

It also contains a list of Program/Compile/Debug states which can be associated with a specific line number. Each of these states is associated with a symbol that will appear in the Glyph bar to provide more information inside the editor window.

Diff Tab

The Diff tab contains font and color settings for the built-in diff utility.

The Diff tab in the Miscellaneous category contains additional diff-related settings.

Terminal Tab

The Terminal tab contains font and color settings used by the supported version control systems.

The Terminal tab in the Miscellaneous category contains additional version control-related settings.
