Micrel PHY - LED blink error or activity

Almost all Ethernet cable connection ports with the RJ45 connector have one or two small built-in LEDs which indicate a link or some kind of signal activity. Do any error codes output through the LED?

The LED Mode, when set to 'Link/Activity', indicates activity with a blinking LED but does not output any error codes.
